This is a sample of what DOCS files structure looks like.
This is compiled from our standard installation of DOCS now-a-day.

The Structure is summarized as follows:

DOCS___ 'DOCS batch, icons, manual, & environment files
|___BIN 'DataFlex Runtime executable files & DOCS utilities
|___LIB 'DataFlex non-executable & DOCS help & errors files
|___USR 'DataFlex & DOCS configurations & menus files
| |___HELP 'DataFlex & DOCS context sensitive help files
|___Data 'DOCS data, indexes, free form notes, custom queries, etc...
|___Emc 'DOCS modem communication program and custom scripts files
|___Prog 'DOCS program files and their updates

See attached file DOCS_DIR.TXT for detail file names and paths.

Note: Assuming you installed DOCS on your local C drive, (if other drive used, use your drive letter)

C:\DOCS contains:

DOCS.BAT if you are using DataFlex DOS RunTime,

DOCSCON.BAT if you are using DataFlex Console Mode RunTime.

EMC & TTERMPRO directories could be merged into EMC folder for Electronic Media Claims.

Some older systems may be using Procomm or Term modem communication software, TeraTermPro is the windows version DOCS currently uses.

C:\DOCS\DATA contains:

FILELIST.CFG DOCS FileList configurations
COLORS.COL Color template color monitors
COLORS.MON Color template for monochrome monitors
*.DAT DOCS binary data files
*.FMT DOCS sample formats (Insurance claims, Chart Labels, Guarantor Bills, Guarantor Statements, etc...)
*.k* DOCS Index files
*.TAG DOCS Filename tags (contain names of fields)

C:\DOCS\PROG contains most of the *.flx program files, some should be in C:\DOCS\LIB & USR. For more details see attached DOCS_DIR.TXT for specific file names that should be in each.

___

DOCS directory structure:
C:\DOCS\PROG\*.flx 'DOCS program files
C:\DOCS\DATA\*.DAT, *.K* 'DOCS data files and their indexes
C:\DOCS\EMC 'DOCS electronic claims module including procomm
communication software
C:\DOCS 'keep all other files in there, specifically batch files and
dataflex runtime.

In general:
I am enclosing few steps to help you out install DOCS on new machines, or
fine tweak it on existing ones. Dataflex directory structure is explained
in their installation guide pages 32-33. The directory structure in most
recent installations by Unicomp would look like this:
C:\DOCS 'batch files & environment
C:\DOCS\BIN 'DataFlex runtime & Utilities
C:\DOCS\DATA 'DOCS Data files ff*, *.dat, *.k*
C:\DOCS\EMC 'DOCS Electronic Billing module
C:\DOCS\LIB 'Dataflex non-executable components
C:\DOCS\PROG 'DOCS program files *.flx
C:\DOCS\SRC 'Dataflex UIMS, Source code files, & diagnosis programs
C:\DOCS\USR 'Dataflex configuration, samples, & help files

1. Setup your Dataflex runtime. See whitepaper for NT/Win95:
<http://www.dataaccess.com/whitepapers/WindowsNTBuffering.htm>
Assuming the Dataflex runtime is installed in either its own folder
(c:\DataFlex) or within DOCS folder (such as c:\docs\Bin, C:\docs\lib,
c:\docs\usr, c:\docs\source) and running properly, you will need to
configure DOCS environments to match the computer settings. refer to
Dataflex Electronic Documentation for more details especially pages 22-26
installing on NT/Win9x and pages 42-43 printer issues.
2. your DOCS.bat file should contain correct path commands matching your
directory structure, we supply a sample that may need fine tweaking.
(especially path and dfpath commands)
3. DOCS chapters 10 & 11 explain few things about maintaining DOCS database
and avoiding problems, the DOCS manuals could be downloaded from our website
at http://www.ucoa.com/docs

4. DOCS configurations are in:
8.Utilities Menu
6. Configuration Module
6.Edit Printer Codes
DeviceName=LPT# or UNC name or diskfile
