Defragmenting A Windows Me Hard Disk Drive

1. The Disk Defragmenter runs faster and is less prone to errors if it is the only program running. To ensure that it is the only program running, start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. To start the Disk Defragmenter, click Start, and highlight Programs, Accessories and System Tools. Click Disk Defragmenter .
3. In the Select Drive box, select the correct drive. Click the arrow to display a list of drives. Do not defragment Removable drives. Defragment all other drives, one at a time. Restart the Disk Defragmenter for each drive.
4. After choosing a drive, select OK. When the progress bar reaches 100%, the process is complete. It can take a few minutes and up to several hours to defragment a drive. Do not use the computer while the defragmenter is running.
5. Restart in Normal mode.
