How do I remove then install my Sound 4 card?
Methods to uninstall or install the Sound 4.
Symptom: The modem cannot be found by a telephone/modem application, or
has been removed by either the control panel Modems interface or in the
device manager.
1. Uninstall the WinModem®
a. Click the "Start" button.
b. Select "Settings" and click on "Control Panel".
c. Double click on the icon labeled "System", this will load
system properties.
d. Click on the Device manager tab .
e. Select "View devices by type" if it's not already selected.
f. Double click on Ports(COM & LPT)".
g. Double click on "Sound 4 WinModem" .
h. Click on the "Port Settings" tab.
i. Click "Uninstall", a window with the message "Warning:
You are about to remove this device from your system." will
appear .
j. Click "Ok", a window with the message "The device has
been successfully moved. During the removal, some
corrupted modem information has been detected and cleaned." will
appear.
k. Click "Start" .
l. Click "Shut Down".
m. Select "Restart the computer?".
n. Click "Yes" .
The system will now reboot and start the installation of the WinModem®.
2. Install the WinModem®
a. When Windows restarts, a window stating that "New Hardware
Found" will appear, install the device and drivers,
then finish loading Windows.
b. Click "Start".
c. Click "Shut Down" .
d. Select "Restart the computer?".
e. Click "Yes".
f. After Windows has finished loading, click the Start button, select
Settings, and click on Control Panel.
g. Double click on the icon labeled "Modems", this will load
Modems properties.
h. Click on the "Diagnostics" tab .
i. Select the port associated with "Sound 4 WinModem".
j. Click "More Info", This will verify the installation and
functionality of the modem.
k. A window with the message "Communicating with modem this may take
a few minutes" will appear.
3. Verify the Modem responds and close all windows .
Note: Do not click on the Sound 4 WinModem icon found in the control panel
without following these steps first.
